I started working at this property as a waiter in January 1999. I worked the breakfast and dinner shifts, whilst at the same time, obtaining my NVQ in Leisure and Tourism. Once completed, I began working full time on the breakfast and bar shifts, and sought my NVQ Level 2 in Hospitality and Level 3 in Supervisory.
I was promoted to Food & Beverage Supervisor in February 2001, where I was responsible for supervising employees on the breakfast, bar and dinner shifts. Following a large extension, including 18 state of the art meeting rooms, I took a new opportunity, in the hotel, in Meeting & Events. Here, I was responsible for all needs of our conference guests and the upkeep of the meeting rooms.
Dalata Hotel Group took ownership of the hotel and it became Clayton Hotel Manchester Airport. Since then, I was promoted to Meeting & Events Manager, where I am responsible for Bookings, Forecasting & Planning and Revenue. I also Train new staff in the Meeting & Events department.
In addition to this, I was given the opportunity to oversee the Clayton Vitality Breakfast, for this hotel, which is our healthy breakfast option.
I’m still continuing my development, by taking Duty Manager shifts, which allows me to the learn other departments in the hotel. I am looking forward to growing with Dalata Hotel Group and seeing the further development of our business in the UK.
